All things considered there aren’t nearly enough arcade kart racing games on iOS. We’ve got more than our share of simulation racers like Real Racing, but when it comes to lighter, less serious fare we pretty much have to get by on Shrek Kart. Which is no good. That’s why we’re pretty pumped for Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing.
Anybody who played Mario Kart on their Super NES back in the day will have a pretty good idea of what they’re in for with this game. Drive fast while shooting stuff at the other players and drifting around the corners. It’s hardly new game design, but goodness is it still fun.
S&S All-Stars was already released a while back on the Nintendo DS handheld (as well as console versions) and it was a pretty big surprise. The game actually turned out to be very fun. Though it’s taken quite a while to arrive (we wrote about its announcement four months ago) we’re still looking forward to taking Samba De Amigo for a lap around the track.
The game has already been released on the New Zealand App Store so it will be headed to North American and European App Stores this evening, and it will be priced at the relatively slim rate of $1.99.
