iPhone 5 is the thinnest iPhone Apple has ever made, and the lightest too. At 7.6mm thin, 18% it’s thinner than the iPhone 4S and the world’s thinnest smartphone. additionally it weighs 112 grams which is 20% lighter than 4S.
The iPhone 5 sports a Retina display of 326ppi! Every iPhone thus far has had a 3.5″ screen. iPhone 5 has a 4″ screen with an astonishing 1136×640 resolution.
There’s now a fifth row of icons on the Home screen which means More apps on every screen. Apple software on the iPhone 5 has been updated to take advantage of larger display.
The display on the iPhone 5 has 44% more color saturation to include Full sRGB color specification. This makes it the most accurate display in the industry.
Images are now sharper and have less glare in direct sunlight.
iPhone 5 has GPRS, EDGE, EV-DO, HSPA, and added HSPA+, DC-HSDPA and 4G LTE (Possible maximum downlink of up to 100Mbps)
Wi-Fi has been improved as well. The iPhone 5 has 802.11 a/b/g/n, 802.11n is 2.4GHz and dual channel 5GHz, up to 150 Mbps.
The iPhone has a brand new processor, the Apple A6. The A6 is 2x faster at CPU, 2x faster at rendering graphics. This makes for faster everything. Nearly a 2x performance across board!
Battery life has also improved. We now get 8 hours of 3G talk time and browsing or LTE browsing, 10 hours of Wi-Fi browsing, 10 hours of video, 40 hours of music, or 225 hours of standby time!
New camera has 8 megapixel sensor, 3264×2448, backside illuminated, hybrid IR filter, five-element lens, and a fast f/2.4 aperture. It is also now 25% smaller.
iPhone has a sapphire lens cover now, the same material used as the crystal on Rolex and Tag Heuer watches. It will protect your lens and make images clearer and sharper.
Video quality has been improved as well. It still has 1080p HD video but now has improved video stabilization, face detection for up to 10 faces, and you can take photos while you’re recording video.
Front facing camera for FaceTime is now 720p HD.
The audio system’s has been updated on the iPhone 5 as well. It features not two, but three microphones located on the front, back, bottom. They can be used for noise cancellation and improving voice recognition.
The speaker has been improved as well. It has better frequency response and is 20% smaller while sounding better.
The earpiece is now noise-canceling as well. This will aid in killing background noise.
The iPhone 5 features a new dock connector called “Lightning”. It is an all-digital, 8-signal design, adaptive interface, with improved durability. Additionally it is reversible, so which makes it easier to use. Oh, and it’s 80% smaller!
No need to worry about all those devices you have now that use 30-pin connector. There’s a 30-pin-to-Lightning adapter. It goes directly between your old accessory and your iPhone 5.
