PopCap launched a limited Facebook beta of its popular Plants vs. Zombies this week, but the bigger news is that a full-on sequel is headed to mobile devices by early summer.
PopCap Games announced a limited beta launch of Plants vs. Zombies Adventures on Tuesday, a socially-integrated Facebook edition of the company’s blockbuster mobile game — but the real news for PvZ fans was tucked away elsewhere in the press release.
“This marks the second imminent new installment in the Plants vs. Zombies franchise, as PopCap also confirmed today that Plants vs. Zombies 2, the sequel to the original blockbuster game, is slated to launch in early summer,” the press release confirmed.
The remainder of the announcement focused entirely on the company’s first social adaptation of the original Plants vs. Zombies saga, leaving diehard fans to wonder what might be in store for them in the months ahead.
Thankfully, we won’t have long to wait: April is just around the corner, and assuming May is what PopCap parent Electronic Arts considers “early summer,” we should see the next chapter of the saga unfold soon enough.
